Havoline AF 007400

Description

Havoline AF 007400 is a nitrite-containing engine coolant developed to protect car, truck and bus engines of both ferrous and aluminium construction against corrosion and frost damage. It is based on monoethylene glycol and contains a blend of inhibitors designed to give a high degree of corrosion protection to engine components such as radiators, cylinder blocks/heads and water pumps. The inhibitors used in Havoline AF 007400 include silicates, nitrites and borates. Amines and phosphates, however, are not employed in its manufacture.

This engine coolant was developed not only to meet but also to exceed the requirements of major European car manufacturers, and it has had an extremely successful service history in both the original equipment and after sales markets.
Havoline AF 007400 provides the following benefits:

It provides enhanced protection to ferrous metals and light alloys through the use of higher levels of corrosion inhibitors.

Superior stabilization of the silicate inhibitor is achieved in this engine coolant, ensuring longer shelf and service life, and enhanced stability towards hard water.

This engine coolant has been subject to extensive and severe testing in both Arteco and independent laboratories. Some of the tests with performance requirements which are comfortably met by this product include:

ASTM D1384:87 Hot Glassware Corrosion Test
BS 5117:74 Cold Glassware Corrosion Test
ASTM D2570:85 Simulated Service Corrosion Test
ASTM D4340:89 Heat Transfer Corrosion Test
BS 6580:85 British Standard Specification for
Corrosion Inhibiting Engine Coolant
Concentrates

FVV and EMPA tests are available on request. Further details on these and other tests conducted are also available.

The concentration of the engine coolant used should be that recommended by the vehicle manufacturer; in the absence of such guidance, Havoline AF 007400 should be diluted water to give solutions in the concentration range 40-50 vol %.

As with any antifreeze coolant, Havoline AF 007400 is not recommended for pipes or any other part of the storage/mixing installations containing zinc or galvanized metals.

Colour of Havoline AF 007400

Havoline AF 007400 is produced as a clear, pale yellow liquid which can be dyed. Contact your local Arteco area sales manager to know which colours are available.

Stability of HAVOLINE AF 007400

Samples of Havoline AF 007400 have been stored at ambient room temperature for up to three years without separation, precipitation or gelation occurring.

These excellent results have been further demonstrated in the laboratory using:

a) A concentrate stability test in which undiluted Havoline AF 007400 is maintained at 60°C for two weeks without precipitation, gelation or separation.

b) A hard water stability test (PVW 1426) in which
Havoline AF 007400 is diluted with an equal volume of synthetic hard water containing 275 mg/l of calcium chloride. This solution is then maintained at 90°C for ten days. Again, no precipitation, gelation or significant change in the silicate level was observed at the end of the test.

Compatibility with other Antifreezes

Most coolants blends are based on carefully balanced mixtures of various anti-corrosion inhibitors. Mixing of different coolants can lead to loss of corrosion protection.
Arteco therefore, does not recommend the mixing of different blends of coolants.

Apprrovals by OEMs & national authorities

Havoline AF 007400 has been approved by most engine manufactures and an up to date list with approvals is available separately. Even though some Original Equipment Manufacturers have not given a formal approval Havoline AF 007400 is suitable for use as antifreeze / coolant in any combustion engine.
