Kemira Chemicals and Arteco signed distribution agreement for FreeziumTM

FreeziumTM, based on potassium formate, has been successfully introduced by Kemira as secondary coolant for indirect refrigeration installations. As of July 1st, 2002 FreeziumTM will be marketed and sold through Arteco, a joint venture company of TotalFinaElf and ChevronTexaco. The agreement will be in force for all countries within Europe, with the exception of Finland.

The continued discussions about global warming and the so-called greenhouse effect have great impact on the refrigeration industry. The phase-out of many synthetic refrigeration gases have spurred interest into indirect refrigeration, producing the cold in one place and transporting it to where it is needed by use of a secondary coolant. FreeziumTM is such a secondary coolant and it offers excellent thermophysical properties compared to the more conventional products.

Arteco is already an important player in the automotive coolants sector, being the second largest supplier in Europe. Arteco has recently launched its Zitrec-range, a complete package of heat transfer fluids. Zitrec fluids include propylene and ethylene glycol based fluids and are based on the patented organic salt inhibitors which offer superior corrosion protection.

Kemira’s Formics business unit is interested in generating and developing a profitable and growing business based on potassium formate based products. One way of developing potassium formate is via heat transfer fluids for indirect refrigeration systems and heat pumps. Being strong in production, Kemira Chemicals has chosen Arteco as its partner to further develop the distribution of FreeziumTM.

FreeziumTM will complete Arteco's range of superior heat transfer fluids. An excellent product marketed through a professional organisation is bound to be a success!
