Engine coolants

Have you ever wondered what happens in your engine? Dive with your coolant and discover what dangers and obstacles your coolant has to overcome.

Enjoy the journey!

Efficient heat transfer and overall corrosion protection have always been the key criteria for engine coolants. This has historically been the case for years for internal combustion engines, however remains just as important with electric vehicles. Market demands are changing rapidly, and vehicle manufacturers are continuously looking for innovative designs, leading to increasingly specific and stringent requirements regarding corrosion protection, component compatibility and heat transfer.

Those requirements in general however particularly the heat transfer capacity of coolants will play an increasing role in meeting regulations and norms for exhaust gas emissions. The exhaust gas emissions of a vehicle are closely linked to the energy efficiency of fossil fuel, electrical energy or combination thereof (hybridization) in the operation of a vehicle. The appropriate coolant and its thermal management capabilities in internal combustion engines, electrically driven or hybridized vehicles will have an increasing impact on the ability of the automotive industry to meet the requirements of the current and forthcoming exhaust gas regulations.

Arteco follows the market trends very closely and stays on top of technology trends and market shifts. We work together with our customers to find innovative and creative solutions to the diversity of challenges.

Arteco's coolants are suitable for a wide range of applications: internal combustion engines, gas engines and also electrically powered drivetrains. Our coolants are available either as ready-to-use, concentrate and in some instances also as a super-concentrate (inhibitor package). To find out more about which coolant is best suited for your type of engine/drivetrain requirements, please contact your local area sales manager.

Arteco coolants are used and already approved for most of today's hybrids!

As a general rule, all current approvals on Arteco products remain valid for the manufacturers' hybrid vehicles. Those are vehicles where the internal combustion engine (ICE) is complemented with some form of electrification.

The below badge designates whether the coolant can be used in Internal Combustion, Hybrid and/or Battery Electric powered Vehicles. You will find this badge on the product pages that are fit for use in NEV.

Our engine coolants are suitable for an extensive range of applications, including passenger cars, heavy-duty trucks, buses, construction equipment, stationary and marine engines. They are supported by a list of key OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) approvals. These approval programmes are extremely stringent and include intensive lab tests related to corrosion, compatibility stability and dynamic engine tests, followed by 'real-life' fleet testing. In addition, OEM-specific restricted substances lists make this process a very customer-focused approach.
