Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs)

FREECOR® EV Micro 10 ultra-low electrical conductivity coolant is designed for Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs). It delivers optimal thermal performance, enhanced electrical safety, and long-life material compatibility with extended service intervals. Compliant with the Chinese standard GB 29743.3 for FCEVs.

Fuel cell-powered engines, alongside hybrids, batteries and alternative fuels, are among the possible solutions for alternative propulsion. According to several studies, fuel cell will find most benefit when installed in buses, trucks, vans and passenger cars. Some off-road applications, like marine and stationary equipment, consider the use of fuel cells as well and even aircraft propulsion is being developed based on this powertrain approach.

Engineered for extended service intervals

Maintenance frequency is critical for fuel cell applications and is strongly influenced by coolant stability over time. The increase in electrical conductivity during operation is primarily driven by coolant decomposition and the formation of corrosion related ionic species. A key component of the thermal system, the ion exchanger, is designed to remove these corrosion products and other foreign ions generated during service.

A well designed additive package plays a central role in stabilising the coolant by limiting glycol degradation and providing robust corrosion protection. By reducing coolant decomposition and the formation of corrosive by products, the ionic load presented to the ion exchanger is significantly lowered. As a result, ion exchanger lifetime is extended and replacement intervals are prolonged, leading to a measurable reduction in overall maintenance frequency.

FREECOR® EV Micro 10: advanced coolant for fuel cell electric vehicles

FREECOR® EV Micro 10 is specifically developed for Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs) and complies with the Chinese National Standard GB 29743.3 for fuel cell vehicles. Our liquid coolant features ultra-low electrical conductivity (<5µS/cm) using non-ionic technology, and maintains stable, low current levels when exposed to voltage, resulting in minimal fluid decomposition and hydrogen generation.

Supplied as a ready-to-use mixture, FREECOR® EV Micro 10 ensures consistent quality and prevents any increase in conductivity. It provides a unique combination of corrosion protection and material compatibility across the entire fuel cell cooling circuit, including metals, thermoplastics, elastomers, and commonly used ion exchanger materials such as cartridges and resins.
